One year ago, I was looking for a great sounding poly synth at an affordable price on the second hand market. I found a SC Six Track for 400$, wish was below my 500$ budget. Then my band mate call me: «Do you see the awesome synth on Kijiji?». I told him that I already arranged a meeting with the seller to pick it up. Then he replied: «You can't go wrong with this for 500$, it's Roland...». I was confused and ask for more info... After some research on the net, I changed my mind regarding the Six Track and picked-up the JP-8000. The previous owner take care of this synth like if it was is own child, immaculate condition. As being the first proper VA made by Roland, the sonic range of this synth is incredible. It feature the now famous Hypersaw DCO, popularized and overused by trance producer's in the mid 90's as well as the best arpegiator I've used. As being digital, there's no tuning issue and the key action is very good. I really like the feedback oscillator and the filter. When the attack is set very fast, the synth produce snappy sounds wish are sometimes irritating, my only complaint. I would highly recommend the JP-8000 for people that would like to introduce themselves to synthesis without spending a lot of money on vintage gear.
